CSR Limited chairman John Morschel announced today thatJohn Ballard has been appointed to the Board.

Mr Ballard is a director of Woolworths Limited and WattylLimited, and - until its recent takeover - was a director of Email Limited.

He was managing director of United Biscuits, Asia Pacific,from 1993 to 1995, and was appointed managing director, UB Asia in 1996.He was managing director Snack Foods atCoca-Cola Amatil Limited, from 1986 to 1993.Prior to that he was General Manager, Building Paints and later adirector of Taubmans Industries Limited.His career also includes various positions with Wormald Internationaland Warner-Lambert Company.

Mr Ballard, 55,isalso a Trustee of the Sydney Opera House.

Mr Morschel said Mr Ballard had broad experience inmanufacturing, consumer goods and marketing.

“This experience, together with his extensiveinternational background - particularly in Asia and Europe - will be a valuableaddition to the board,” he said.
