CSR Limited todayannounced that Warren Saxelby had been appointed Chief Financial Officer, followingthe retirement of Finance Director Jim Osborne.
Mr Saxelby, 49, was formerlyVice President Finance, BHP Steel. Inrecent months, he has been working on major projects for BHP Steel president,Kirby Adams, including the company’s proposed public listing.
Mr Osborne, 57, joined CSR andthe CSR Board in October 1998, and has decided to take early retirement fromboth positions, due to health reasons.
“Jim has been instrumental indriving shareholder value across CSR - implementing the systems to measureperformance and changing the focus of our people and the businesses,” said CSRManaging Director Peter Kirby.
“He has been responsible fordeveloping a shared services group across CSR’s Australian operations, and forleveraging significant cost savings and service improvements as a result. Hiscontribution has been much appreciated. We wish him, his wife Glenys and theirfamily all the best for the future.”
Mr Saxelby joined BHP Limited in1970, and his career spanned various senior financial management positionswithin Australia and overseas. Theseincluded President BHP Strip Casting (1999-2000); General Manager Finance &Planning, BHP Integrated Steel (1996-8); Manager Finance & Planning, BHPSlab and Plate Products Division (1995-6); Vice President Finance, BHPEurope/Africa/Middle East (1992-5); and Group Manager Accounting, BHP Petroleum(1988-91).

Mr Saxelby’s role will includeresponsibility for CSR’s financial management, accounting, shared services,information technology and treasury functions. The appointment will take effect from 22 October.
